Disappointment in Tourney and a 1 and 1 week
The Waterford tournament ended with an 8-5 loss to Port Dover. The team battled hard but just came up short. Disappointment was seen all the kids faces. Still they show that they are heading in the right direction.
Last week the Thunder played a home and home series vs. Paris. The first game was in Caledonia and though the Thunder didn't play their best game, they found a way to win. (A sign of a good team). Richard Goodwin popped the only two goals. Josh Roloson went down to make a save in the second period and hurt his ankle. To that point he had been playing fantastic. Austin Pont took over in goal and played just as well and in particular he made a kickin' glove save in the Third. The match was very tight checking and became more physical than normal. Paris got one goal but that was all they could get past our goalies. The Thunder won 2-1. On Thursday night the Thunder rolled into Paris for the second of the series. The Thunder came out strong but couldn't seem to keep control of the puck. Passing, which is normally a very strong plus for the Thunder was missing and they were out shot and out duelled on the face offs. Still the Thunder kept it close right till the end of the game. The final was 4-2.
A pair of practices this weekend will get the Thunder back on track in time for their next game vs. Six Nations.
Offensive Player of the Game vs. Paris (Tues): Richard Goodwin
Defensive Players of the Game: Josh Roloson and Austin Pont
